Today’s Customers…

Monday, August 17th, 2009

I’ve found that in today’s market pepole want a lot for a little. Developers are so focused on making the LARGEST SITE KNOWN TO MAN, but they tend to neglect the business aspect of designing a site: search rankings, usability, and a interesting aesthetic. More often than not I meet developers that are so focused on using their new super awesome code thing, they forget who they are actually designing the site for.

Taking this knowledge into account, I’ve begun development on a one page site that will allow for easy customization, great search engine optimization, and easy-to-read. In tandem with a grid based layout, the one page site is an effective means of marketing to a target demographic.

I have already begun utilizing the one page site for smaller sites that are in a need of a simple web based initiative for their business. Several of my clients have already remarked at the speed and flexibility of the development of their one-page sites. I hope that eventually the major search engines will determine search ranking based on the quality of content presented in a site, instead of the quantity.

Google and Yahoo! are already making strides to to accommodate this new philosophy of web development. I only hope in the future it gains a greater foothold with the rest of the web development community.

Smashing Book

It has come to my attention that a few days have passed since I put a blog post in. I just wanted to let everyone know that I have a few major projects on my plate and my blogging will be limited for the next four days. Hopefully I can get everything cleared up and have sometime to do some new writing.

In the meantime, go buy The Smashing Book!

Google AdSense

Unleashed has finally tapped into the world of web-advertising. I’ve often felt that Google AdSense was a tacky and annoying way for a web master to potentially make money. After a few years of battling with my sensibilities, I’ve decided that a little advertising isn’t such a bad thing. This is now a service was can offer to help our clients make more money.

The only issue that I’ve been having is that I can’t seem to change the colors of an ad. I’m a little annoyed that I have to put up with the default Google AdSense colors. It seems that the All In One AdSense plugin I implemented into the Unleashed Blog is having issues converting my color selection.

However, for now, I can track and monitor all page impressions, conversion, and funds. It really is a great way to make some passive income from your site. (Hopefully, I can change the colors to be less annoying.)
